Say No to Pesticides Killing Off Our Bees!

Just when I thought humans had started figuring it out, we’ve got sneaky buggers trying to re-instate chemical usage that will finish killing off our already endangered bees! As a gardener, I’m aware it may be “easier” to grow plants when you don’t have to worry about bugs, but when you don’t have the pollen carrier, the plants will just DIE, and so ends green things being able to live on this earth, at least in our current natural cycle.

‘Sum of Us’ activists have put forward a campaign to save these poor bees, let’s do our part in ensuring our future!

Dozens of bee species are now extinct or on the verge of disappearing. But Bayer and its cronies are twisting the EU’s arm into ignoring bee-saving rules against harmful pesticides — the same rules that got toxic neonicotinoids banned last year.

We all rely on bees to pollinate fruit, vegetables and crops. But around the world bees are in decline, putting the future health of our planet at risk — and unless the EU takes concrete steps to save the bees, this trend shows no sign of reversing.

MEPs urgently need to challenge the bureaucrats that buckled to Bayer’s lobbyists. MEPs could force a U-turn, and revive plans to crack down on all bee-harming pesticides. 

It’s the EU’s job to force corporations like Bayer to take bee health seriously — and prevent deadly, bee-killing chemicals from flooding our fields. Bayer shouldn’t be telling the EU what to do. Across Europe, MEPs plastered their election campaigns with pledges to save the bees. When Someone Sends You Too Much Money – It’s Probably Too Good To Be True! – Photography Over-payment Scam –

You’ve been asked to be the photographer at an event. You’ve signed a contract stating the details, and are eagerly awaiting your payment. However, when it arrives, it’s almost QUADRUPLE the amount you were to be sent! Questioning, you’re told it’s an accounting error and to send the rest to the wedding caterer. You send the money, only to have the deposit/cheque BOUNCE, leaving you out thousands of dollars!

This sounds like something out of a horror film, but what’s truly terrifying is that it’s been happening all across BC the last little while!

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre recommends that people protect themselves “protect yourself by knowing who you are doing business with and never accept a cheque for more than your selling price,” when it comes to the overpayment scam.

The BBB also warns that a legitimate company will never ask someone to forward money.

Incentive Overtime Offered for Alberta Nurse

Looking for a job that comes with lots of money? Look no further! Become a nurse and work for Alberta’s healthcare, (as this practice below is not active in BC) and you’ll never have to worry again!

Incentive Overtime is being offered to nurses when no one can be found at straight time. What that means is that you offer out the shift to everyone at Straight time, then Over time, then once all calls have been exhausted, you send out a final call-out to everyone, regardless if you are straight time or over time, you will get Overtime when you go in.

Hearing of this practice petrifies me, I feel like patient care is being lost in the dollar signs. I hope this practice NEVER comes to BC.

Fair warning to all you scammers and spammers out there – You don’t want to email me unless you want to be blown WIDE OPEN. All spams, scams and marketing schemes sent to me are researched and detailed within this blog.

My latest frustration lies with my personal work email, which while it is for a public company, the email lists are private. They can be easily guessed however, if one was to use my Linkedin Profile, using my name and place of employment. This appears to be the newest marketing scheme in an effort to get people to buy into their training, and while these emails looks ‘legit’ the ill-gotten means by which they retrieved my email is unacceptable. First off, if you come across a major company, you don’t message a random person within the company, you go to the head of the departments. So, after getting the second email, I decided to reply via my own personal email as I don’t risk my company being exposed to spam and scams.

Please stop sending emails to *****@***.com/ca. I shouldn’t have to REMOVE myself from a set of emails you wrongly got my email address from.

I have reported you as spam, as you should have never ever ever found this email, as it’s not posted to any external site, so you either have a staff directory that you’re just testing emails, or have somehow got your hands on our email lists. 

I find this to be extremely frustrating, annoying and mildly scary, let alone bad business practice!  

Fair warning, depending on your response, I will be making a blog post about how your company disregards privacy, sending out automated emails wanting information.

What’s in Your Tea? – Orange Peel

When sourcing your orange peels, be aware that they pick up pesticides! After hearing about major tea companies crafting teas with unacceptable pesticide levels, and orange peko being the top, I delved into to check if there is any way to retain the flavor while eliminating the chemical – No verified safe methods have been found.

If you still choose to use orange peel in your tea, it is suggested to use ‘organic’, however, organic is just a title, and the source should be researched.

As I do grow a lot of my own tea ingredients, someday I see myself growing a little orange tree, but for now, I’ll be limiting the amount of teas I make with this item, as it’s hard to source safely.

12 Million From the Federal Government for Loblaws??

I briefly worked for Loblaws, only to realize that they cared little if not at all for the workers stocking your groceries. (Read my experience here)

This morning, I was shocked to learn that the Federal government is giving them 12 mil – FOR FRIDGES!

For a company that reported a 18.5 billion gross last year, plus an extra 12 mill from the government just for fridges, Loblaws MUST reconsider their wages.

Cellunlocker.com – Automation Takes Over Another Service

Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of having automated services! But when your site sports customer support Mon – Fri 10am to 6pm PST and after a week of trying to contact you with no response, I’m a bit pissed, especially since their price has gone up by another 5 dollars since the last time I used this site, plus Canadian to US exchange rate.

It all started on February 22nd, when I got the IMIE wrong by one number,
(yes NEWB move) but I IMMEDIATELY sent in a message correcting my error.

If there were real people behind this service, it would have been dealt with latest Tuesday morning, yet it’s now Mar 2nd, and I’ve yet to hear anything besides an automated message that shot out stating I had the wrong IMIE, of which I’ve also responded to. This didn’t help either, as the ticket was closed at the same time.

I tried all five methods of contact, 3 email addresses, 1 phone number, and sent two help tickets within the account I opened to use this service. (The account option is also a new feature, allowing you to track phones you’ve previously unlocked.)

I have been super happy with their services in the past, I’ve actually unlocked my last 3 phones through them, so I gave them almost a full work week (leaving me without a phone for that time period) before using another service and deciding to write this article, and all I have to say is they not only failed me, they disappointed myself and every person I got excited about their service.

I left 4 messages stating that they had 24 hours before this would be reported to the Better Business Bureau, but to no avail. I now realize that this is an empty threat, as I went to go put in a complaint, but since they have no address, and aren’t registered with the bureau, I can’t.

So I uploaded this to sitejabber, in hopes someone will be saved the same trouble I have gone through.

It appears that there is someone manning the support desk, however my former comments on their disappointing service still stands. On March 5th, I received the below email.
