I feel horrible for not doing this sooner, but I keep getting messages from trusted friends in Facebook saying ‘Its you?’ which if clicked on takes you to a site which hacks your data and sends out the same message to all your friends.
First off – if I ever ‘send’ you something that has misspelling in it or improperly capitalized, and I don’t correct myself right away… it’s probably not me….
Second off – if I send you something that has a security certificate warning when you click into the browser and I don’t immediately explain myself (this is a rare occurrence, and more then likely we would be already working together in regards to me fixing your computer) it’s more then likely a scam, and I welcome you to question me on it!!!
Thirdly – (Please don’t take offense but) NEVER click past your browser security unless you know what you’re doing, this will prevent much unneeded headache for you and your friends.
Fourthly – Don’t enter confirm your username and password unless you ABSOLUTELY trust the link you’ve clicked on.
I first fell in love with Raven while watching Teen Titans in the mid 2000’s. The sadness within her soul stems from a knowledge of what is yet to come, echoes forward into her dark, rude, yet kind persona, and when it comes the time for her to fulfil what is said to be her destiny, she chooses her friends and forges a new path ahead.
5 years ago, I made the Raven cosplay you see regularly in my collection, not from the comfort of my own home but from an apartment I had to stay in due to circumstances beyond my control. This didn’t stop me from completing my goal, and this costume has allowed me to bring laughter and smiles to many!!
I’m so happy when people who truly love her see this cosplay!! I know she’s become more popular due to the newer cartoon and live series (which I haven’t seen, I feel any trailers I’ve seen don’t do the titans justice) but I chose her long before she was known, because she was unknown. I also I feel connected to her past, making her one of the characters I attribute as part of my personality, which makes me feel truly like her when I’m cosplaying! (However, some days, I fall to being more like her ‘white’ self! Maybe one of these days that outfit will make an appearance….)
When I first met the RAOC group at the Kelowna Fan Expo (ie KFX), I never expected I’d become a part of something so wonderful! However, as I got to know them, I found out that Cap and his dad Mr. Incredible always had a goal in mind – to spread random happiness, hope and cheer to those in need. So I answered the call and joined his band of mismatched heroes, villains, puppets and princesses, our troupe ever growing!
One of the most memorable occasions for me was our walk through the mall for last year’s Halloween (2019) with Ursula and Batman, spreading smiles and holiday cheer!
As we were heading out, we picked up Spiderman, who became ever faithful in our efforts to ensure our mission was achieved.
Our continued visits caught the attention of Castanet, which interviewed us on our second to last visit before COVID hit.
This group has touched my life and I know many many others, and I do hope sometime in the near future we can meet again to spread love, cheer and hope to those in need.
I love meeting people at these events because they are so excited about what they have to share that it gets me excited TOO! I know this is a little late, but with no cons happening this year, it’s allowed me a little time to catch up on a few things such as uploading the content I snapped the last few years, updating my websites, being more faithful on social media and such like!
This Thursday, I’d like to highlight Summer 2019 Ani-Revo, (otherwise known as Anime Revolution or AR!)
I went to the event as Ruby from RWBY, stoked to be at my first EVER AR!
I rode the skytrain in ensuring it was all clear of GRIMM!
One of the things I love about going to these events is meeting all the interesting and talented people here! This event allowed me to make some wonderful connections, such as a young film maker and cosplayer dressed as Midoriya who recently featured me in a video at this event, check that out here:
Astrid and Hiccup are going to teach me how to train a dragon:
Kim Possible, Shego, Ron and Dr. Drakken!
Ladybug & Cat Noir mashup!
My sis again! Stood up at the altar I’m afraid so she’s a little FIRED UP!
Now here’s a story that really only comes from going to events like these! Met these amazing peeps as they wandered around with a Jukebox singing ‘I WANT IT THAT WAY’ OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN I COULDN’T STOP LAUGHING AND SINGING ALONG!!! Still to this day, t.c._c0splay5 and I chat on a regular basis, and he tunes into my streams every week, and we reminisce and look forward to the next time that all of us WEEB AVENGERS will unite once again!
Met MASTER CHEF!
The video below really only catches the tail end of an example of some of the shenanigans we get up to at these events!
It’s also where I met my fearless Twitch Team Leader ‘SPOC‘ who has been using my platform to promote other streamers with common interests while I’m not streaming. Be sure to check out his stream and follow/subscribe!
And on the way out I ran into Jon!!!!
I really enjoyed the time I spent with my new and old nerd friends, I hope to see you again next year!! MUCH LOVE!!!
As I step into this new year, I feel my effort can be better spent by using InstaGram’s built in features of Stories. Starting today, you’ll start seeing updates of where I’m at and what I’m doing, a quicker way of keeping you in the know, and an easier way for me to keep track of where I’ve been!
Any helpful feedback is greatly appreciated as I embark on this new adventure, one that has encouraged me to get out more and show off my beautiful town, and hopefully, maybe someday, the world!
If SarahTonin’s around, you’ll more then likely see her toting a gold and black bag, which has been known to contain at least a couple balloons – if not a bag or two! Made by BellaVieBags, this bag follows her to events and parties, sometimes also containing other arts and crafts guaranteed to bring smiles and entertainment.
See below for an example list of creations you may see with SarahTonin around!

A siren from the DC Comics, based this character first made her debut back in 1992, when creators Paul Dini and Bruce Timm decided that it was too bizarre for the Joker himself to jump out of a pop out cake. He ended up doing anyways, but not before they had made a female sidekick/love interest. The inspiration for her costume came from Dinn’s college friend Arleen Sorkin, who performed a dream sequence wearing a jester costume in Days of Our Lives. Because of their history, Dinn easily incorporated aspects of her personality into the character. Quinn was also inspired by a mutual female friend’s “stormy but nonviolent relationship”, according to Timm.
A former psychiatrist falling in love with the thing she was trying to cure – utter madness. This character gives us insight into a twisted side of human nature, and shows us how easy it is to slip into this tunnel of madness.
*This group is for anyone interested in creating/wearing RWBY cosplay, and to arrange events while in costume!!! If this is you, please join and invite anyone you know who has cosplayed or will be cosplaying any character from RWBY!!!*
You just have to be willing to put a bit more of yourself into it, and be willing to network to those around you who have same passion and desire to see this outfit shine. Most of my outfits are handcrafted, or pieced together with old clothing articles and repurposed household items. Example: currently I am saving all my can lids to someday build a dalek replica, and in another box, I have collected random objects to build a machine that goes ‘ding’.
On one last note, always remember to test your costume by walking, sitting, crouching, standing, (and especially in ladies costumes, to ensure no slippages) raise arms above head. Do this for at least an hour before deciding it’s show worthy. Then you can run around being your favorite character to your hearts content. 🙂
Here’s a video detailing a few other common things people seem to get wrong in regards to cosplay:
